Two more Victoria's Quilts

These are quilts 4 and 5 of the 12 I hope to complete by the end of the year. They are going to a charity that provides quilts for people going through cancer treatments. I want people to see that charity quilts can be fun, fast, and good looking!
They were quilted by my friend Sharyn of Huntley Quilting Studio.

Rise

This is my latest pattern Rise, out now in the new issue of Make Modern.
The bottom photo shows my inspiration which is a column in the Casino du Lac Leamy in the Ottawa-Hull area. Sadly the quilt is upside down in the photo because I felt very conspicuous taking the photo and just hurried LOL! I am glad I finally did get that photo though as it shows me that I really did manage to attain the 3D effect I had been aiming for.

Sew, Stitch, Snap, SHARE 4

I don't have much to show because I've been sick the last few days but these are some things I have been working on.

The pillows are a lot of fun and I have several more ideas of ones I want to try.

The oven mitt/hot pad combo is fun as well but sewing the binding on the hot pads takes forever and my machine stitching isn't good enough.

Linking up with Sew, Stitch, Snap, SHARE! And I hope you do too!

Cover Girl!

My quilt Shards is on the cover of Make Modern magazine and I am giddy with excitement!
You can use this coupon code "friends16" to purchase a copy for only $5 ASD, it is an e-magazine.

For this pattern I only submitted a drawing of my idea and when I started trying to make half rectangle triangles I thought my goose was cooked! Several tries later I finally got it and I hope you will use my pattern to try this fun cousin of the HST!

Having some fun

I've been busy working on several projects and haven't had many big finishes, but here are some small ones.
This is a mini I made for a customer who is always very good to us at the store. She has made the larger version of this a few times so I thought it would be fun.
This is a thank you present for a friend, it is a version of my long and low pouch.
We needed a spring pillow for the shop so I volunteered to make one. I really like it and might make a Victoria's Quilt like it.

Lucky

There are some pretty amazing and kind people in this world and I made this mini as a thank you to one of them.
It's a mini of an Elizabeth Hartmann pattern that we teach as a beginner quilt in store.

Trying some weaving

I have an online friend, Tara Curtis, who is a phenomal fabric weaver. She has even invented weaving needles that you now see in the houses of many quilters.
We did a trade a while back and she sent me some needles and I just needed to find the time to try weaving.
Last night was finally the right time and I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure what will become of this piece but I already have plans to do some more weaving and to turn it into pouches.
You can check Tara and her Wefty needle out here.

A bag and some pouches

I recently made a bag as a thank you gift for a friend of mine. The pattern is the Zip Top Tote from Anna Graham's book Handmade Style. One important note if you are going to make this it to use a purse zipper for the wider tape, I struggled quite a bit.
Last night I sat down to figure out some new pouch dimensions. I wanted something long and low, and after trial and error came up with this.
And then I made a second one and put them both in my Etsy store. I do plan for several more to be made soon.

Victoria's Quilts #2

My friend Sharyn at Quilting Stitches did a great job on my second quilt top. It looks great and I am happy knowing it will bring some warmth and comfort to someone going through cancer treatment.
